Oh Boy! Friday Night Out, November 9th

"Your hands are a window into your heart and soul. There is a piece of yourself in every project you make; there is love in every stitch, and a handmade scarf is like a hug. Foster Care to Success’ Red Scarf Project gives us each an opportunity to show that someone out there, even a stranger, truly cares about our foster youth." -"Master Knitter" Lily Chin, Red Scarf Project spokesperson

We will be knitting and crocheting scarves for the RED SCARF PROJECT
during Friday Night Out, November 9, 6-9 PM
Come in and purchase red yarn for a scarf for the project, sign up to enter the drawing for prizes and get a discount on the yarn for a scarf!

The Orphan Foundation of America The Red Scarf Project
Foster Care for Success Program.
Children that go through the foster care system often face challenges getting the education they need to lead happy and productive lives. The Foster Care for Success program gives scholarships to further the education of kids who would not have the money to continue their education.  In 2005 the Foster Care for Success program began sending the kids that were attending college or vocational schools a Valentine's Day care package.  These kids often don't have family or parents who would send care packages to them.  So, to show that someone cares - packages are sent with treats including a red hand knitted or crocheted scarf.   Bring your scarves to us by December 10th.

Size: approximately 60" long and 5" to 8" wide. Scarves should be long enough to be wrapped around the neck, with tails long enough to be tied in the front.
Style: Think unisex collegiate. Fringes are optional. Your scarf should drape, tie easily and be soft.
Color: Red! However, this could mean burgundy, cherry, russet, red stripes with other colors, or multicolor hues including red.
Finished & tagged: Yarn ends should be securely sewn in. For a personal touch, attach a tag saying "Handmade for You" with your first name, city, and group affiliation, if any. Donors have also included washing instructions, messages of encouragement, gift cards, and more.

Friday Night Out in Downtown Mesa!

November 9th, from  6:00 – 9:00 pm.
Pinka Peck will be back with some CROCHET FUN!!
For those of you who did not get a chance make crazy crocheted  scarves with Pinka in September, she has agreed to come back again. Bring you BIG crochet hooks and fun yarns and get busy. She will also show you how to crochet those funky scarf yarns that all the knitters have been having fun with.
See You Friday!
